Indalecio R. “Andy” Guardiola is a Laredo native, a 1976 graduate of San Augustine High School, and a 1980 graduate of St. Mary’s University of San Antonio. After earning his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1983, Andy started working as an associate in the law firm of Wilson & Volpe drafting real estate documents and preparing title opinions. In 1986, he joined the firm of Mann, Saldana & Jones, practicing mainly in commercial collections. Andy then made a career out of criminal prosecution, working both for the Webb County District Attorney’s Office from 1989 to 1994, and then for the Department of Justice, United States Attorney’s Office, from 1995 to 2019.
After retiring from the Department of Justice, Andy decided to continue practicing law with a focus in the field of federal taxation. He completed a Masters in Law (LLM) degree in Taxation from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2019. In June 2020, he formed Guardiola Law Office PLLC to concentrate in federal taxation. Andy has also worked as a Tax Preparer for Hood & Associates CPAs, preparing individual as well as business tax returns, year round.
Andy is Vice-President and General Counsel of Helping To Ensure Laredo’s Prosperity (H.E.L.P.), a local nonprofit which is an operational arm of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in Laredo. Andy has been an active volunteer with VITA since 2014.
